“Peace begins in your heart, grows in your mind, manifests through your will and spreads through your action”
Spreading love, peace and unity in the world is our own way to make a difference in the current times when war, politics and hatred divide not just the nations but the entire humanity. World peace is the need of the hour. Thursday, the 19th of September 2019 will be etched in the memories of everyone in Integrated Indian School as a historic day. What could be a greater way of celebrating two of the most important occasions- The International Day of Peace (21st September) and the 150th Year Celebration of the Mahatama M.K. Gandhi, than a peace march? IIS under the leadership of its Principal Mr. Arul Dharmaraj Thomas just commenced the same. Dresses in all white-the colour of peace, the students, teachers and staff of IIS took a pace to promote harmony and love in the world. The day began with a grand Inaugural Ceremony. Mr. Amitabh Ranjan, Second Secretary, PIC, Education and Community Affairs from the Indian Embassy, Kuwait, honoured us by his presence as the Chief Guest of the day. Other distinguished guests also graced the occasion. Among the guests were Mr. Ramneek Singh, Labour Affair, Indian Embassy, Mr. Ibrahim Adai, Leader General of Jleeb Al Shuyoukh, Mr. Alex John, President of Arms4u, an Environmental and Charity Organisation, Mr. Ajit Kumar, Principal of United Indian School, Mrs. Elizabeth, Principal of United International Indian School, Mr. Anil Mehrotra and Mr. Sunil Mehrotra, the honourable Directors of Integrated Indian School. A welcome speech was delivered by our Vice Principal Mrs. Cathy Thomas and the guests were welcomed by our Principal with flower bouquets. A speech by Mr. Kartikeyan T. highlighted the life of Mahatma Gandhi and his ideologies of Ahimsa or non-violence. A beautiful song by the school choir, the auspicious Lighting of the Lamp and the ribbon cutting ceremony marked the beginning of the Peace March. It was indeed an awe-inspiring sight to see the students and teachers of IIS, adorning white outfits and white caps, walking on the streets to spread an ideal message of world peace. Hand-crafted doves, a symbol of harmony and love were also presented by our school representatives to the Principals of various schools around IIS. Neil Armstrong, the first man to land on the surface of moon said “One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind” but in the current scenario every small step taken towards world peace is a giant leap for the entire mankind and IIS is a proud part of this World Peace Campaign.
