When Values Become Action
Integrated Indian School, Kuwait, observed Gandhi Jayanti and promoted the message of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan through a special assembly organised by Truth House on 1 October 2026. The programme sought to familiarise students with the enduring principles associated with Mahatma Gandhi, particularly truth, non-violence, cleanliness, discipline and responsible citizenship.
The assembly was organised by Truth House and compered by Shayma and Anzia. The programme commenced with a salutation by Abdullah, followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. Taha presented the Quranic recitation, followed by its translation. The English Prayer was led by the Principal, Mrs. Ritu Mathur.
The significance of Gandhi Jayanti was highlighted through an informative speech by Farhan, followed by a soulful song dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, presented by Navina and Phabri. Saniya presented the Thought for the Day, drawing attention to the importance of values and responsible conduct.
The assembly also featured a news segment comprising National News presented by Hana, International News by Rethika , and Campus News by Fatima Syed
A Message Through Performance
A significant highlight of the programme was an interactive skit presented by Abban (X), Affan (V), Zikra (II), Faizan (IV B), Manroop (IV A), and Ayesha (IV B). Through their performance, the students effectively conveyed Gandhiji’s principle of non-violence and emphasised the importance of cleanliness, personal hygiene and responsible civic behaviour.
The presentation provided an engaging platform for students to communicate important social values while reinforcing the relevance of Gandhian principles in contemporary life.
Swachh Bharat: Learning Through Participation
The message of cleanliness was further reinforced through a range of Swachh Bharat activities conducted across the school. Students actively participated in cleaning and organising their classrooms, decorating their learning spaces, and creating awareness about hygiene, cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
The primary students also participated in age-appropriate activities designed to develop an understanding of personal hygiene and the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.
The active participation of students transformed the initiative into a meaningful experiential learning opportunity, reinforcing the understanding that cleanliness is not limited to a particular occasion but is a shared responsibility and an essential aspect of responsible citizenship.
Conclusion
The programme concluded with an address by the Principal, Mrs. Ritu Mathur, who appreciated the efforts of Truth House and commended the enthusiastic participation of the students. She encouraged them to incorporate the values of cleanliness, discipline, responsibility and compassion into their daily lives.
The celebration served as a meaningful tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and provided students with an opportunity to translate his ideals into practical action. Through the assembly and the associated activities, the students demonstrated that responsible citizenship begins with individual choices and collective commitment.
