Concept of Library
Library is a place set apart to contain books, periodicals and other materials for reading, viewing, listening, study or reference. The school library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today’s information and knowledge based society. The school library equips students with life long learning, skills and develops the imagination, enabling them to live as responsible citizens.
History of Library
The history of the library began with the first effort to organize a collection of documents topics of interest including accessibility of the collection acquisition of materials, arrangement and thing tools. Library history is the academic discipline devoted to the study of libraries, it is a subfield of Library and Information science.
DEWEY DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION (DDC)
The DDC system first published by Melvil Dewey in 1876. The DDC organizes library materials by discipline or field of study. It is a system of library classification made up of ten classes, each divided into ten divisions, each having ten sections. This system helps to organize non-fiction books in the library by organizing information into ten categories which are called classes. We can organize Information more specifically depending on how detailed the book’s subject is.
The integrated Indian school library has submitted no. of books and other study supporting materials. The wide spread archive of books, classics and fiction for different age groups of students. Self help books, periodicals and journals related to history culture, selected local and national newspapers and magazines like India today, the competition success, the week, success review etc. Its purpose is to inculculate reading habits amongst students.
Books like fine Arts, Yoga, Values, biographies and religious collections will be available.
A wide range of Dictionaries will be available.
Rules of the Library:-
The books have been classified and catalogued . They must be put back in the proper shelf if you are not borrowing the same.
All the classes have a schedule d library period every week. Students can borrow books only against their library cards. The card has been distributed from classes VI to XII. One book may be issued at a time for a period of seven days from the date of issue. Any damage of book librarian immediately for onward transmission.
Items like reference book, newspapers and magazines are not for circulation. Reference books cannot be borrowed and must be used only in the library during a library class after school hours.
No students can take books out of the library without the permission of the librarian .
It is mandatory for students to return the book before holidays and the school examination.
