‘Computer Science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes ’ E. W. Dijkstra
Computer has revolutionized people’s lives unmatchedin comparison to any other media could have done in the recent times. The revolution of computer era was similar to the influence Television made in the early 80s. People merely depend on computer for each and every need. Every industry has been progressed with Computer embedded systems. This clearly depicts the need of computer education at the school and college level curriculums.
Computer science holds big relevance in the academic studies. It equips the students to be in pace with the modern technology and systems. The programming foundation laid in the students will help them to choose their future career in the Information Technology Industry. This has widened their scope and approach beyond geographical horizons.
Computer science is the scientific and practical approach to computation and its applications. It is the systematic study of the feasibility, structure, expression, and mechanization of the methodical processes (or algorithms) that underlie the acquisition, representation, processing, storage and access to information, which is encoded in bits and bytes in a computer memory or transcribed engines which is similar protein structures in a human cell.
Syllabus of Computer Science comprises of Theory and Practical lessons. Computer subject is included from Class I onwards. Theory lessons covers the concept of Computers, Networking, Microsoft office applications and various programming languages. Department is equipped with modern facility Computer Labs for both Junior and Senior Students. Students of Classes I to X belong to the Junior Lab. The do the practical lessons of Microsoft office applications, HTML and other programming languages. Students of Class XI and XII belong to the Senior Lab. They apply the practical applications of theory learned from Informatics Practices and Computer Science classes at the labs. The language taught areTurbo C++, Python, Java, Netbeans IDE 6.8 with MySQL 5.1 etc. Students have to complete a project in one of the applications in an academic year.
